BMF is pleased to announce the addition of Michelle A. Carano, CPA, and Matthew R. Mallinak, CPA, to the firm’s Assurance and Advisory Services group.

Michelle A. Carano, CPA, is a senior manager in the assurance and advisory department with nearly 20 years of public accounting experience. Carano has served a wide variety of organizations including nonprofit organizations, construction, retail, real estate, and service industries, with a concentration in family-owned businesses. She specializes in working with business owners, management, and staff to resolve problems and develop ideas for growth, build efficiencies and improve internal controls, as well as succession planning and transition. Carano will work closely with Dale Ruther and the leadership of BMF’s nonprofit practice group. Carano earned her bachelor’s degree in Accounting from The University of Akron.

Matthew R. Mallinak, CPA, is a senior manager in the assurance and advisory department and brings more than 12 years of experience in public accounting. Mallinak has served clients ranging from large multinational SEC registrants with global footprints, to small- to medium-size private-equity-owned clients, including private equity funds in the leveraged buy-out, mezzanine debt, co-investment and fund of funds specialization, leading discussions with client personnel, including C-Suite executives, regarding significant accounting matters, and has run numerous special projects for clients including internal control assessments and complex accounting matter consultations. Mallinak is a graduate of Ohio University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
