In many ways, Mark’s a repairman.

As a dedicated senior manager in the firm’s state and local tax (SALT) practice, Mark often works with clients on correcting oversights, handling liens and audits, and installing compliance practices for proper recognition of SALT obligations. Clients rely on Mark’s extensive background in taxation to navigate the often-unfamiliar and highly varied regulations businesses must track at the state and local levels.

Mark began his career on the “other side” of the desk, as an auditor with the Ohio Department of Taxation.  After, he spent more than a decade with a variety of large accounting firms before joining BMF in 2016.

He brings experience in working with both public and private companies across a variety of industries. While most engagements involve complying with SALT obligations and at times remedying past practices, Mark thrives in forward-looking engagements where companies proactively seek advice on SALT liabilities and implications regarding future acquisitions, expansions, and strategic changes.

Mark and his wife are raising their three boys in Massillon and enjoy an active lifestyle. Mark says he met his wife playing volleyball, and even today they both continue to play as often as seven days a week.

“I revel in collaborating with clients on future possibilities – proactively planning how a potential expansion, sale or acquisition will impact taxes. Being able to analyze all possible options for my clients is a real sense of accomplishment.”
